African Spices
Do you recognize any of these African spices? Don't worry if you don't, that's what we're here for!
In many areas over the past few decades, African spices have fallen out of use, due to the prevalence of packaged bouillons such as Maggi cubes and Jumbo powder. Unfortunately, using these products doesn't allow you to control the salt, hydrogenated oils or MSG in your recipe. Not to mention that all your dishes are then flavoured the same way.
Let's take a look at how you can use some of the spices below to give a unique flavour to your dishes! We've included some of the more common names, but you might know or find them under different names in other languages.
Muscade du Gabon (Calabash/Pebe)
Maniguette (Mondongo/Graine de paradis) et le fruit de Tondolo seché
Gingembre blanc (Kimbiolongo)
Bitter kola (Ngadiadia)
Djansang (Akpi)
Noix de kola
Rondelle (Mukubi)
We're proud to announce that all of these spices are now available at Mokili!
